Listahan is becoming the operating system for your household — but it's built outward from the one thing you can't take chances with: your family's food allergies. Your data gets the same standard. Here is exactly how we protect both — in plain language, mapped to how the app actually works.
Food safety
Allergen checks follow fixed rules — never a guess
Every recipe, meal plan, swap, and school lunchbox is checked against your household's allergen profiles by a safety engine that follows fixed rules — not a language model's best guess. The same check runs every single time, and it runs even on the free plan. Lens helps plan and suggest; it never gets the final say on what's safe.
Safety rules come from your profiles, not the request
Allergen rules are read from the household and per-member profiles you set — they can't be overridden by a voice prompt, a swap suggestion, or anything else the app suggests. If a recipe contains something flagged for someone at your table, it's surfaced and removed, not silently dropped.
Per-child, per-school rules
Each family member gets their own allergen profile and dietary rules, and children can carry school-specific rules (like a nut-free classroom) that stack on top. The lunchbox planner only suggests options that are safe for that child, at that school.
A complement to reading labels — not a replacement
Ingredients and manufacturing change. Listahan is a safety net that catches the obvious and the easy-to-miss, but you should always verify with your own brands and labels. We say this in the app, too.
Privacy & your data
Your data is yours
Your household, recipes, plans, and inventory belong to you. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not run third-party ad networks against it.
Delete everything, anytime
Settings → Privacy & data → Delete my account permanently removes your login and personal data — immediately, no waiting. If you're the last person in your household, the household goes too; otherwise it stays intact for your family. No email thread required — and if you ever cannot reach the app, support@listahan.co will do it for you.
Your data stays in your household
Your data is kept to your own household — one family can never see another's. It's built into how the app works and enforced for you automatically, not a setting you have to find.
The price index is anonymized
Presyo, our community grocery price index, is built from receipts with personal information stripped before any price is recorded, and prices are only ever shown in aggregate. You get real neighborhood prices; no one can trace a price back to you.
Privacy-respecting analytics
We use lightweight, privacy-conscious product analytics to fix bugs and improve the app — not to build an advertising profile of you.
Built on trusted, managed infrastructure
Listahan runs on managed, reputable cloud infrastructure with data encrypted in transit and at rest. We buy hardened platforms for the security-critical plumbing rather than rolling our own.
