Tamarillo Sauce

Instructions

    Peel and chop the tamarillos, then combine them with the brown sugar and water in a saucepan.

    Cover and simmer for about 5 minutes, or until the tamarillos are soft.

    Blend or process the mixture until smooth, then strain it back into the pan to remove seeds and skin.

    Stir in the chicken stock, five-spice powder, and the extra brown sugar, then simmer uncovered for 5 minutes, until slightly thickened.

    Serve warm with grilled or roast chicken, pork, or ham. This sauce also freezes well. Note: the five-spice powder can be left out if you prefer a simpler flavor.
