Bananas Flambe

Warm caramelized bananas finished with a splash of rum for a quick, dramatic dessert.

Instructions

    Cut each banana in half crosswise, then split each piece lengthwise so you have quarters.

    Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves into a syrup.

    Add the bananas cut side down and cook until fairly warm and just starting to soften, about 1 minute. Flip the bananas and cook an additional 30 seconds.

    Pour in the dark and light rum and carefully swirl the pan. If desired and away from any overhead hazards, tilt the pan to ignite the rum, allowing the flames to subside. Let the sauce thicken slightly, then remove from the heat and serve warm.
