Breakfast Sandwich

A morning classic with bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted English muffin.

Instructions

    Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the bacon and cook for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until crisp. Remove to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving about 1 tsp of bacon fat in the skillet.

    Crack the egg into the skillet with the reserved bacon fat. Cook sunny-side up, over-easy, or break the yolk for a hard fry, seasoning with salt and pepper.

    While the egg cooks, toast the split English muffin until the edges are golden and crispy.

    Lightly butter the warm toasted English muffin halves.

    Place the slice of cheese on the bottom half of the muffin. Top immediately with the hot fried egg so the residual heat begins to melt the cheese.

    Break the crispy bacon slices in half and layer them over the egg. Cap with the top half of the English muffin and serve hot.
