Instructions
- 1
Split the Cuban bread horizontally. Spread 1 tbsp of yellow mustard evenly on the inside of the top and bottom halves.
- 2
Layer the ingredients meticulously on the bottom half: start with the Swiss cheese, followed by the sliced ham, the roast pork, and finally the dill pickles in a single, even layer. Top with the remaining half of the bread.
- 3
Spread the softened butter generously over the top and bottom exteriors of the bread.
- 4
Heat a large cast-iron skillet or panini press over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan.
- 5
If using a skillet, place a heavy object (like another cast-iron pan wrapped in foil or a brick) on top of the sandwich to press it flat. Cook for 4-5 minutes until the bottom is dark golden brown and crispy.
- 6
Carefully flip the sandwich, replace the weight, and cook for another 4-5 minutes until both sides are perfectly crisped and the Swiss cheese is thoroughly melted. Cut in half diagonally and serve immediately.
