Instructions
- 1
Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes: flour, beaten egg, and panko breadcrumbs. Season the fish fillet lightly with salt and pepper.
- 2
Dredge the fish in the flour, dip it in the egg, and then coat it entirely in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing firmly so they adhere.
- 3
Heat 1/4 inch of oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Carefully add the breaded fish.
- 4
Fry the fish for 3-4 minutes per side until the panko crust is golden brown and the fish is flaky and opaque in the center. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Toast the soft potato bun lightly. Slather the tangy tartar sauce generously on the bottom and top halves of the bun.
- 6
Place the crisp iceberg lettuce on the bottom bun. Top with the hot, crispy fish fillet, cap with the top bun, and serve immediately with a lemon wedge.
