Apple-Cheese Casserole

    Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C) and butter a 1 1/2-quart baking dish.

    In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until light. Add the Velveeta and cheddar and combine well.

    Add the flour and mix until fully incorporated; the mixture will be quite stiff, like a crumbly dough.

    Spread the sliced apples evenly in the prepared baking dish, then spread or crumble the cheese-flour mixture over the top, covering the apples completely.

    Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are tender and bubbling. Let stand a few minutes before serving warm.
