Instructions
- 1
In a mixing bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk with a pinch of the granulated sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Add the remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Punch down the dough and roll it out into a 12x18-inch rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- 4
In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough.
- 5
Starting from the long edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal slices and place them in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 45 minutes until puffy.
- 6
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until the tops are golden brown and the centers are cooked through. Let cool slightly before frosting with cream cheese icing or vanilla glaze.
