Buttery Drop Cookies

Instructions

    Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet.

    In a medium bowl, combine the butter-flavored shortening, sugar, and milk. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended. Beat in the egg and vanilla until smooth.

    In a separate bowl, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. Add to the creamed mixture and mix at low speed until just blended into a soft dough.

    Drop level tablespoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart onto the prepared baking sheet.

    Bake at 375°F for 7 to 9 minutes, or until the cookies are set but not browned. Cool 2 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer to a cooling rack. For larger cookies, mound rounded tablespoonfuls 3 inches apart and bake 11 to 13 minutes.
