Irresistible Peanut Butter Cookies

    In a large bowl, combine the peanut butter, shortening, brown sugar, milk, vanilla, and egg. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended and creamy.

    In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda, then add to the creamed mixture at low speed and mix just until blended.

    Drop the dough by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto an ungreased baking sheet, then flatten each slightly in a crisscross pattern with the tines of a fork.

    Bake for 7 to 8 minutes, until set and just beginning to brown at the edges.
