    Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking sheets. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and brown sugar together, then add the egg and mix well.

    In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and cloves. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the milk to the creamed mixture, stirring until just combined.
