In a medium saucepan, heat the niter kibbeh or oil over medium heat.

Add the finely minced onion and sauté for 5-7 minutes until very soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.

Gradually whisk in the shiro powder, toasting it slightly with the onions for 1-2 minutes.

Slowly pour in 2 cups of water while whisking continuously and vigorously to prevent any lumps from forming.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer the mixture. It will start to pop and sputter. Let it cook for 10-15 minutes until it reaches a smooth, pudding-like consistency.

Garnish with sliced jalapeño and an extra dollop of spiced butter before serving.
