Scatter the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar over the top and bake for 18 to 22 minutes until hot, bubbling at the edges, and the cheese is melted.

Let it rest for 5 minutes to set, then serve warm with tortilla chips, celery sticks, and carrot sticks for dipping.
