Torta

A Mexican sandwich stuffed with beans, meat, and fresh garnishes.

Instructions

    Slice the telera roll in half horizontally. Remove a small bit of the bread from the top half to make room for the fillings.

    Toast the roll lightly on a hot griddle or in a skillet for 1-2 minutes until warm and slightly crispy.

    Spread the warm refried beans in a thick, even layer over the bottom half of the toasted roll. Spread the mayonnaise on the top half.

    Pile the hot, chopped carne asada evenly over the refried beans.

    Layer the fresh avocado slices and pickled jalapeños directly on top of the meat. Sprinkle generously with the crumbled queso fresco.

    Place the top half of the roll on the sandwich, press down firmly to secure the fillings, and cut in half.
