Peanut Butter Squares

    Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 13x9-inch pan. In a large bowl, cream the margarine with the brown and white sugars until light.

    Blend in the egg, then add the 1/2 cup peanut butter and the vanilla, mixing until smooth.

    Stir in the flour, quick oats, baking soda, and salt until combined. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared pan.

    Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the edges are golden and the center is set.

    While still hot, sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top; let them soften for a minute, then spread into an even layer.

    Make the icing by stirring together the 1/4 cup peanut butter, powdered sugar, and milk until smooth. Swirl over the melted chocolate.
