Strawberry 'n Oat Bars

Buttery oat crumble bars layered with sweet strawberry preserves and a chocolate drizzle.

    Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and grease a 13x9-inch baking pan.

    In a large bowl, beat the 3/4 cup margarine and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 2-3 minutes.

    Add the combined flour, baking soda, and salt and mix well, then stir in the old-fashioned oats, quick-cooking oats, and nuts until crumbly.

    Reserve 1/2 cup of the crumb mixture. Press the remaining mixture firmly onto the bottom of the prepared pan.

    Spread the strawberry preserves evenly over the crust, then sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden, then let cool.

    Melt the chocolate chips with the 4 tsp margarine over low heat (or in the microwave in short bursts), stirring until smooth.

    Drizzle the chocolate over the cooled bars, refrigerate for 1 hour to set, then cut into bars.
