Instructions

  1. 1

Coat the Bananas: Spread the brown sugar on a wide, shallow plate. Roll each saba banana slice generously in the brown sugar until fully coated.

  2. 2

Wrap: Lay a spring roll wrapper flat. Place one sugar-coated banana slice near the bottom. Top it with 2-3 strips of jackfruit. Fold the bottom over the filling, fold in the sides, and roll tightly. Seal the edge with a dab of water.

  3. 3

Heat the Oil: Heat the cooking oil in a wide frying pan over medium-high heat (around 350°F).

  4. 4

Fry and Caramelize: Carefully place the wrapped turon into the hot oil. Sprinkle an extra tablespoon of brown sugar directly into the hot oil. As the sugar melts and caramelizes, it will stick to the wrapper.

  5. 5

Drain and Serve: Fry for 3-5 minutes, turning occasionally, until the wrappers are crisp, golden brown, and coated in a shiny caramel glaze. Remove and let them cool slightly on a wire rack (not paper towels, or the caramel will stick). Serve warm.
