Affogato

"Drowned" gelato — a scoop of vanilla gelato bathed in a shot of hot espresso.

Instructions

    Chill the Glasses: Place 4 small glasses or cups in the freezer for a few minutes.

    Scoop: Add a scoop of vanilla gelato to each glass.

    Brew: Pull or brew the espresso so it is piping hot.

    Drown: Pour a hot shot of espresso over each scoop of gelato at the table.

    Garnish: Top with shaved dark chocolate or toasted hazelnuts if desired.

    Serve: Serve immediately with a spoon while the contrast of hot and cold is at its best.
