Boxed Mac and Cheese Upgrade

Everyone's favorite blue-box macaroni transformed into a richer, creamier bowl with extra cheese, butter, and a splash of milk.

Instructions

    Bring a medium pot of salted water to a boil and cook the dry macaroni for 7 to 8 minutes until tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, then drain and return it to the warm pot.

    Set the pot over low heat and add the 4 tablespoons butter, stirring until it melts and coats the noodles completely.

    Pour in the 1/3 cup milk and the powdered cheese packet, stirring vigorously for about 1 minute until a smooth, glossy sauce forms.

    Add the 1 cup shredded cheddar a handful at a time, stirring continuously off the heat so the cheese melts evenly without clumping or breaking.

    Season with the garlic powder and black pepper, taste and adjust salt, then serve immediately while the sauce is at its creamiest.
