Thoroughly drain the tuna and transfer it to a small bowl. Add the mayonnaise and mix well with a fork until smooth and creamy.

Spread the tuna mixture evenly over one slice of bread.

Top the tuna with the slices of cheese, then place the second slice of bread on top to close the sandwich.

Butter the outside of both slices of bread evenly.

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat. Place the sandwich in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and crispy.

Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for another 3 minutes until the cheese is completely melted and gooey. Slice in half and serve warm.
