Buying it
Whole beans hold their flavor longer than pre-ground coffee, so grind just before brewing if you can. Check the roast date on the bag rather than just the expiration date, since a fresher roast tastes noticeably better.
Storing it
Keep coffee in an airtight container in a cool, dark pantry cabinet, away from the stove's heat and steam. Avoid the freezer for everyday use, since condensation from repeated thawing dulls the flavor.
