Caprese

A fresh Italian salad of ripe tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil drizzled with olive oil and vinegar.

    Slice the tomatoes into thick rounds, about 1/4 inch each, and season them lightly with salt and pepper.

    Slice the fresh mozzarella into similarly thick rounds.

    Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices on a serving platter, alternating and overlapping them slightly.

    Drizzle the olive oil evenly over everything, followed by the red wine vinegar, then scatter the chopped basil on top.

    Let the platter sit at room temperature for a few minutes up to an hour so the flavors meld, then serve as an appetizer.
